FAQ

Here are the most frequently asked questions.
If there’s anything else you’d like to know, please get in touch.

  • Can I bring toys for my child?
I would advise to only bring toys that you don't mind being in the photos. We all know what it's like when they get a toy and don't want to give it up.
  • Can I bring my dog to the session?
I would absolutely love it if you did! Dogs are such a wonderful addition to sessions - they are a member of the family after all. Please include this on your booking form if this is something you would like to do. There will just be an additional cleaning fee of £15 for studio sessions.
  • Can I bring snacks for my child?
If you'd like to bring snacks for your child to the studio, dry snacks like crisps are fine. Please no chocolate though as it can get messy around faces and on clothes for the photos.
  • What should we wear?
It will depend on the season and type of session, however I usually suggest light, neutral tones. You'll be sent some suggestions to give some ideas of what to wear for your session. This is just a guide so please feel free to wear whatever you like and whatever you all feel comfortable in.
  • Is there parking nearby to your studio?
There are a few spaces right outside the studio. If these aren't available, there are free car parks a short walk away.
  • Do you have outfits that I/my child could wear?
I do have a small client wardrobe. Please send over your/your child's sizes and I'll see if I have something that will be suitable.
  • Do you have a studio?
Yes, I've got a white, natural light studio in Welwyn, Hertfordshire.
  • How do I book?
Simply get in touch and I will send you a booking form. We'll chat about dates and what you want from your session. They'll be a deposit to secure your booking.
  • Where are the photo sessions held?
Sessions can either be held at my studio in Welwyn, Hertfordshire, at a local outdoor location, or at your home within a 7 mile radius (minimum additional travel charge of £10 applies for home sessions). Please get in touch with the type of session you are interested in and we can discuss which will be the most suitable location for what you're looking for.
  • When will the session be?
If you want those curled up sleepy photos, newborn sessions are best to be done between 7-14 days old. It is possible to do the shoot a little while after this but please be aware that we'll likely get a lot more awake shots than asleep.
  • Can we do the session in my home instead of your studio?
Absolutely! Some people feel more comfortable having a newborn session in their own home. We can work our way around the house to find lovely bright spaces whether it's in the bedroom, nursery, living room or a cosy corner. Newborn sessions can be held at your home within a 7 mile radius. There will just be a minimum travel charge of £10.
  • What should I bring with me?
Just the usual items you would pack in your changing bag - nappies, wipes, milk if bottle fed, and any special items you want to appear in the photos such as wedding rings or a teddy. I will provide the rest.
  • When should I book?
Booking ahead of time is advised. It would be great if you get in touch before baby is born so we can plan a date around your due date.
  • I don't feel ready to be photographed.
Sometimes for new parents it's the first time getting out of the house, and after those first few sleepless nights the thought of being photographed might be the last thing on your mind. However I strongly suggest to have even just a few photos taken with your newborn, I promise you won't regret it. It is such a special memory to look back on seeing how tiny they are in your arms.
  • What if my baby doesn't sleep?
You might find that your baby sleeps almost all day at home and then they come for their session and they are wide awake. They are probably just excited at their new surroundings, and for some it is their first outing. Don't worry if your little one doesn't sleep for their session, we will always get beautiful photos awake or asleep. It is lovely to see those big beautiful eyes! Even the most awake babies can get sleepy towards the end of their session so we will do all we can to get them to sleep, but either way you will have a beautiful gallery to cherish.
